Well, 1 week after we resumed to complete the season, one win and 1 draw, the result on Wednesday was a fine display, with a little bit of luck Marcus could have had a couple himself. It is not really in our hands as to where we finish, but I feel Leicester are catchable, especially as we play them in the last day of the season

FA Cup quarter final, we beat Norwich after extra time 2-1, so the semi final will be played at  Wembley on 19th Jul with a 6pm kick off, BBC are covering the game, think we may take a trip down

Europa League, we are awaiting UEFA to make a decision on the 2nd leg against LASK, then where the Qtr, Semi and Finals will be played. I will keep you posted, but rumour is it will be around the Cologne area

Grat news to see the pubs opening again from Saturday 4th July, lets hope that there is no spike and that this will lead to the grounds being re-opened soon

All the best, keep trucking, the worst is hopefully over and we can get back to some resemblance of normality

A large number of members have been asking about ST renewals and the deadline date, for your information Manchester United have suspended the renewal deadline date of 8th May until there is some clarity on how the season will end and when next season will begin.

There are 4 home league games left, if the decision is made to complete the season, it will most likely be played behind closed doors, so there will either be a credit for these 4 games if you have already renewed your ST’s or a reduction on next seasons ticket. If you decide not to renew, then you will receive a refund for these 4 games

If the Europa league home game against LASK is to be played behind closed doors, then the credit or debit card used to pay for the tickets will be credited with the amount.

For the games against Spurs, Norwich and Brighton, where the ballot has taken place and money taken where you were successful in the ballot, if they are to be played, and behind closed doors, then there will be credits given onto the card used to pay for these tickets.

As soon as we get any new information we will advise you accordingly

I hope everyone in the branch plus your friends and relatives are all well and no one has any symptoms of the virus.

We have heard of some United fans who have contracted it, one is in an induced coma in Wythenshawe hospital, so it is affecting people that some of us know

It is a hard time, Lise and I are back in the UK from Madrid, and we have been self isolating for the past 12 days, I have only been going out to attend the clinic twice a week to get the bandages changed on my leg.

Social distancing is the key to fighting this virus, so for the foreseeable future there will not be any branch meetings.

I know we live in a large open area, but the decease can still be spread, just by being to close to other people whilst you are out

With Season Ticket renewals due on the 1st May anyone paying cash will need to get it to me in time for me to bank it and then pay by one of my own credit cards or cheque.

The season may start again, but I feel it will not be with spectators watching the games in the stadium, so we will see what the club decide to do about the cup games we have paid for and the remaining premier league games

Keep safe and if you are one of the people on the high risk listing, please self isolate for the full 12 weeks, don’t risk getting ill, we want to see everyone once this is all over

Good morning, we hope to hold a branch meeting on Friday 13th March at 20-00 hours

This will be after we return from playing LASK away in the Europa Cup, thinking it will be better then than after the home leg, not everyone can do two consecutive nights.

Venue to be decided, but probably it will be ‘The Railway’ Whaley Bridge,  (I will ask David to arrange this)

Hope this is will be a good time for everyone and see you there.

We arranged for the next meeting to be held at The Railway Whaley Bridge as a tribute to Godfrey Plant on the 6th December, the week-end we play City at the Council House.

The Railway was the venue we used to use for the early meetings until we out grew the venue, the back room is not very large so it ill be cosy to say the least

Look forward to seeing you all there, best regards Keith

It is with regret that I have to break the news of Godfrey’s passing.

Godfrey was a great bloke, always helping where he could with the branch, he did all the expediting of people who took the buses to the home games from Whaley Bridge.

Godfrey travelled to a lot of Euro away games with us and was recognised by a lot of the euro away travellers, it has not been possible for me to reach all these people to let them know, but I am sure word will get round on the grapevine

If it wasn’t for his love of Manchester United, then Godfrey would probably not have been to the numerous places he has been to, his famous statement being ‘ If it wasn’t for Manchester United, I would never have to leave Whaley Bridge’

Godfrey leaves behind his wife Joyce and their two children, Johnathan and Nicola, our deepest condolences to you all

The arrangements for the funeral have been announced:

Monday 25th November at 12-00

St James
Whiteleas Road
SK23 7DY

Directions are turn left at Taxal turn on the Whaley to Macclesfield road, The church is about half a mile along that lane

Afterwards at Whaley Bowling Club

RIP Godfrey you will always be with us on our travels.

Apologies for the members who cannot make the funeral, some are actually travelling to Astana in Kazakhstan on Monday at 11-00.

Thank you all for attending the meeting on the 13th it was a good turn out considering it was a week-end with no games. Also thanks to Vibeke & Jon for sorting out the food

There will be a branch meeting on 13th September commencing at 88pm, at the Rams Head, Disley

Agenda will be:

Chairman’s Address

Euro Away’s

Any Other Business

Hope to see as many of you there as possible, I will be attending

Many thanks to all who attended the dinner, it was a great evening and from the feed back everyone had a good time. I would like to thank the people who took charge of the buses to ensure everyone get there and back safely, John, Woody, Christina

It was a pity a few people couldn’t make it at the end, some we knew about, but the ones who said they were going nd then just didn’t turn up, is a little disappointing, because we still had to pay for their places.

Looking forward to next years and hopefully we can beat the number this year of 81

This years MUDSA dinner will be held on Friday 8th November, so the day after the 4th Europa Cup tie and before the Brighton home game.

As most of you know, we are one of the largest parties at the dinner, and following the jokes made by the compere last year about us only having 1 more person than the year before, I told him we will take 8 tables.

We currently have 80 confirmed, so all 8 tables are full, but we have some flexibility to increase this by taking some tables for 12 people. Thinking due ot the layout we would only be able to have 3-4 tables of 12, so 88 is the maximum number we should be looking at.

The guest speaker is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so what a coup that is for MUDSA

We will run buses, and it could be that we run a coach from Chapel and pick up in Whaley, New Mills and Disley before going on the bypass to OT. Another coach or mini buses from Glossop, Compstall & Marple, Hazel Grove, Davenport and Stockport as required.

The menu will be :

Starter – Mrs. Kirkham’s Cheese and Leek Tart, Heritage Tomato and Red Onion Salad, Smoked Sweet Vinaigrette Dressing

Main Course –Lake District Lamb Shank, Parmesan Mash, Wilted Cabbage, Carrot Puree, Minted Jus

Desert –Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce, Vanilla Seed Ice Cream

Coffee & Mint Chocolates

The Vegetarian option to the main course is:

Beetroot and Ricotta Gnocchi, Textures of Greens, Slow Roast Beets, Balsamic Glaze, Tempura Leaves and Horseradish Cream
