I hope everyone in the branch plus your friends and relatives are all well and no one has any symptoms of the virus.

We have heard of some United fans who have contracted it, one is in an induced coma in Wythenshawe hospital, so it is affecting people that some of us know

It is a hard time, Lise and I are back in the UK from Madrid, and we have been self isolating for the past 12 days, I have only been going out to attend the clinic twice a week to get the bandages changed on my leg.

Social distancing is the key to fighting this virus, so for the foreseeable future there will not be any branch meetings.

I know we live in a large open area, but the decease can still be spread, just by being to close to other people whilst you are out

With Season Ticket renewals due on the 1st May anyone paying cash will need to get it to me in time for me to bank it and then pay by one of my own credit cards or cheque.

The season may start again, but I feel it will not be with spectators watching the games in the stadium, so we will see what the club decide to do about the cup games we have paid for and the remaining premier league games

Keep safe and if you are one of the people on the high risk listing, please self isolate for the full 12 weeks, don’t risk getting ill, we want to see everyone once this is all over

It is with regret that I have to break the news of Godfrey’s passing.

Godfrey was a great bloke, always helping where he could with the branch, he did all the expediting of people who took the buses to the home games from Whaley Bridge.

Godfrey travelled to a lot of Euro away games with us and was recognised by a lot of the euro away travellers, it has not been possible for me to reach all these people to let them know, but I am sure word will get round on the grapevine

If it wasn’t for his love of Manchester United, then Godfrey would probably not have been to the numerous places he has been to, his famous statement being ‘ If it wasn’t for Manchester United, I would never have to leave Whaley Bridge’

Godfrey leaves behind his wife Joyce and their two children, Johnathan and Nicola, our deepest condolences to you all

The arrangements for the funeral have been announced:

Monday 25th November at 12-00

St James
Whiteleas Road
SK23 7DY

Directions are turn left at Taxal turn on the Whaley to Macclesfield road, The church is about half a mile along that lane

Afterwards at Whaley Bowling Club

RIP Godfrey you will always be with us on our travels.

Apologies for the members who cannot make the funeral, some are actually travelling to Astana in Kazakhstan on Monday at 11-00.

Many thanks to all who attended the dinner, it was a great evening and from the feed back everyone had a good time. I would like to thank the people who took charge of the buses to ensure everyone get there and back safely, John, Woody, Christina

It was a pity a few people couldn’t make it at the end, some we knew about, but the ones who said they were going nd then just didn’t turn up, is a little disappointing, because we still had to pay for their places.

Looking forward to next years and hopefully we can beat the number this year of 81

This years MUDSA dinner will be held on Friday 8th November, so the day after the 4th Europa Cup tie and before the Brighton home game.

As most of you know, we are one of the largest parties at the dinner, and following the jokes made by the compere last year about us only having 1 more person than the year before, I told him we will take 8 tables.

We currently have 80 confirmed, so all 8 tables are full, but we have some flexibility to increase this by taking some tables for 12 people. Thinking due ot the layout we would only be able to have 3-4 tables of 12, so 88 is the maximum number we should be looking at.

The guest speaker is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so what a coup that is for MUDSA

We will run buses, and it could be that we run a coach from Chapel and pick up in Whaley, New Mills and Disley before going on the bypass to OT. Another coach or mini buses from Glossop, Compstall & Marple, Hazel Grove, Davenport and Stockport as required.

The menu will be :

Starter – Mrs. Kirkham’s Cheese and Leek Tart, Heritage Tomato and Red Onion Salad, Smoked Sweet Vinaigrette Dressing

Main Course –Lake District Lamb Shank, Parmesan Mash, Wilted Cabbage, Carrot Puree, Minted Jus

Desert –Sticky Date and Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch Sauce, Vanilla Seed Ice Cream

Coffee & Mint Chocolates

The Vegetarian option to the main course is:

Beetroot and Ricotta Gnocchi, Textures of Greens, Slow Roast Beets, Balsamic Glaze, Tempura Leaves and Horseradish Cream

Well, that was a poor end to the season, to think if we had won our last 2 games we could have been in the CL next season, as it is we are relegated to Thursday nights with then a lot of game played on Sunday.

It was only by luck that we avoided having to play Europa cup qualifiers in July, that would have then put the pre-season training and tour in jeopardy.

Fixtures out on 13th June 09-00 with the draw for the Europa Cup group stage being made on 30th August, first game 19th September

Have a good summer

After the honeymoon period of Ole taking charge, we are back to where we were in early December.

Do the players really care about the club, are they paid to much for doing so little. We all work hard to be able to afford to go and support the team, but some of the players just don’t seem to care, they draw there fat pay cheques every week and don’t seem to care about the ordinary supporters or in fact the name on the shirt they pull on each week

For someone who has been going to watch the lads for over 60 years, I thought Sunday was the worst we have ever played, not the worst team, but for effort, commitment, passion, caring, they just weren’t there.

A big clear out is needed, let the players make their choice, if they don’t want to play for the biggest club in the world then get shut of them, even if it means playing some of the less experienced youth player, at least we know they will have a go and give there all for the shirt.

I will be glad to see this season over, but hope that when we go on pre-season tour that there are new faces, some old ones gone and that youth is given a chance

4 games to go and I honestly think he top 4 is beyond us, but it would be nice to see the team at least trying to put it all together and get up there

As you are aware last day for renewal of season tickets is 3rd May, after which you could loose your season ticket

If there is anyone who wants me to renew for them, please let me know, Christina intends to go to OT in the week ending 3rd May, mot probably on the Thursday 2nd. So I will need credit card details or cheque payable to Manchester United and a valid card for the cup scheme, unless your current card is valid and we can ask them to use the same card as they have on file.

Due to there being a branch meeting on the 3rd May, all renewal monies should be provided no later than Chelsea at home this Sunday 28th April

After 16 years Bob will no longer do the 16 seat mini bus, he is taking another step towards retirement, he will however sort out Marple and Compstall as required.

Tony Jones is the new driver and he has agreed to do all the home games and away games as we need him.

I’d like to thank Bob & Stuart for everything over the years and they are and will always be good friends
